About
Joseph “Jody” Rodriguez grew up in Bryan, Texas surrounded by a large family. Jody’s great-grandfather was actually the first Mexican citizen to settle in Bryan, Texas, and the commotion caused by his wide-brimmed sombrero upon his arrival and walk down Bryan’s downtown streets is documented in the city’s historic Carnegie Library. From a young age, cultural heritage, hard work, and societal improvement were impressed upon Jody.
Education
After graduating from Bryan High School in 1989, Jody attended Texas A&M University. Throughout this time, he worked at a local Hispanic radio station as a disc jockey, where he became more attuned to the needs of the community through radio events, fundraisers and requests for community support and activism. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1994, Jody moved to Houston, Texas where he worked in investments and mutual funds. However, seeking to utilize his unique educational and social background to aid others, he determined to study law. After graduating from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, Jody became licensed to practice law in May, 1999.
After practicing in Houston for approximately two years, Jody then returned to Bryan/College Station where he and long-time friend and lawyer Louis Gimbert began their own practice, the Law Firm of Rodriguez & Gimbert, P.L.L.C. in 2001. Since returning, Jody has resumed an active role in the community as a member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (“LULAC”), Fiestas Patrias Mexicanas of Bryan/College Station, and as President of the Hispanic Forum of Bryan/College Station. He is also a lifetime member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.
Jody is married to Marie Portales Rodriguez, an attorney also practicing in Bryan/College Station. They are the proud parents of three children.
